With flash flood warnings ahead of Wednesday afternoon's Belk Bowl, there are concerns about field conditions for Sunday's regular-season finale between the Panthers and Bucs. But not for Carolina's grounds crew.
According to team spokesman Steven Drummond, the folks who take care of the field at Bank of America Stadium aren't planning to re-sod the field when N.C. State and Mississippi State are done with it.
The grounds crew feels the turf will hold up fine, and the only significant maintenance they're planning before Sunday's kickoff is re-sodding the midfield logo. The field will be re-sodded after the Panthers play the Bucs, but that is a normal procedure ahead of a playoff game.
When asked if he was worried about a bowl game tearing up his home field, coach Ron Rivera said:
"No, because the bottom line is both teams are going to have to play on it Sunday and I know our crew is going to do the best job to get that thing ready to go for us."
