Attacked defenders even if it was a simple run up the middle … Recognized a blitzing corner on second series and sat his route down quickly. Ball could have been there sooner, but a PA fake slowed it down … Holding penalty on Philly Brown’s end-around was just over-aggression. Have to know when to let go … Near touchdown was a great effort and likely would be a score if the corner was in a worse position … Has shown the ability to run the deep inside dig versus zone in two straight games. Timing and fearlessness to take a hit are both there … 9.5 percent drop rate from 2013 showed up in this one … First drop was to his back shoulder. Perhaps Cam Newton was leading him away from contact, but it still should have been caught … No excuse for second drop on crossing route … Third drop was the worst of the bunch. In fact, four straight targets occurred without a catch (drop, drop, mistimed jump, drop) … He did follow up the four drops with a ridiculous sideline grab.” button_text=”Read More” button_target=”_parent” tooltip_css=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″][TS-VCSC-Image-Overlay image=”53818″ attribute_alt=”false” image_fixed=”true” image_width=”500″ image_height=”350″ image_position=”ts-imagefloat-center” hover_type=”ts-imagehover-style8″ overlay_trigger=”ts-trigger-hover” hover_active=”false” overlay_handle_show=”true” overlay_handle_color=”#0094ff” title=”Trai Turner” message_code=”false” message=”60 of 67 snaps … Was inserted on the third series after Fernando Velasco seemed to struggle on the second series. Turner stayed in the rest of the way … Can do a better job of staying in front of his man in pass pro, and that’s due to mirroring more with his upper body/overextending rather than moving his feet … Technique is a tough thing to critique if the player wins without it, but if he could just be more patient and sit his butt down when anchoring, he would look so much smoother … Didn’t recognize looping DE back inside, so he was blocking from behind … Athleticism to get to the second level is there. Stuck with Suh on second-quarter screen to Jonathan Stewart, and continued to stick to more blocks … Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are tough ones to anchor against 1-on-1 in extended pass pro, but he did an admirable job … Hands to the face penalty is just part of the game.” button_text=”Read More” button_target=”_parent” tooltip_css=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″][TS-VCSC-Image-Overlay image=”53798″ attribute_alt=”false” image_fixed=”true” image_width=”500″ image_height=”350″ image_position=”ts-imagefloat-center” hover_type=”ts-imagehover-style8″ overlay_trigger=”ts-trigger-hover” hover_active=”false” overlay_handle_show=”true” overlay_handle_color=”#0094ff” title=”Philly Brown” message_code=”false” message=”3 of 67 offensive snaps … Remains the gunner on special teams … End around worked, but now it’s on film … Has to do something as a receiver for teams to not assume he’s a vertical route or end around … He’s making the first man miss as a punt returner, which is always the goal.” button_text=”Read More” button_target=”_parent” tooltip_css=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″][TS-VCSC-Image-Overlay image=”53802″ attribute_alt=”false” image_fixed=”true” image_width=”500″ image_height=”350″ image_position=”ts-imagefloat-center” hover_type=”ts-imagehover-style8″ overlay_trigger=”ts-trigger-hover” hover_active=”false” overlay_handle_show=”true” overlay_handle_color=”#0094ff” title=”Bené Benwikere” message_code=”false” message=”56 of 73 snaps … Snap count shows how often a team must match up in nickel/dime versus the Lions … Was technically a starter, played the first snap across from Golden Tate and Brandon Pettigrew … Should have made an open-field tackle on Reggie Bush at 12:58 in 1st quarter. Bush is a tough player to tackle in space, but at least force him back inside, and Benwikere was in position to do so … Recognized double screen in first quarter. Reacted very quickly and ball went in other direction … He’s not afraid to mix it up. Will jam and then quickly drop into his zone/area … He is already communicating on the field pre-snap … Will continue to drop in his zone while reading the quarterback’s eyes if there’s nothing in front, which could lead to undercutting picks down the road.” button_text=”Read More” button_target=”_parent” tooltip_css=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″][TS-VCSC-Image-Overlay image=”53805″ attribute_alt=”false” image_fixed=”true” image_width=”500″ image_height=”350″ image_position=”ts-imagefloat-center” hover_type=”ts-imagehover-style8″ overlay_trigger=”ts-trigger-hover” hover_active=”false” overlay_handle_show=”true” overlay_handle_color=”#0094ff” title=”Kony Ealy” message_code=”false” message=”31 of 73 snaps … Entered in sub-duty with 12:00 left in first quarter … Showed a willingness to use his hands and length when initial line and momentum were stopped, which he didn’t show enough of in college. This is an improvement … Some of the hand use was strong enough to disengage and create space, but ball was leaving QB’s hands … Even found first contact with hands and arms extended. This is good, it forced the offensive lineman back and to anchor … Could have been quicker off the snap on obvious passing downs when he was last to get out of his stance … Played both right and left end … Frequently tries to loop back inside, and that can’t be his assignment every time … Would like to see him line up inside from the snap, which he did at Mizzou and did well. Likely will with Greg Hardy away from the team … Stood up over Eric Ebron on the TE’s catch. Have to wonder if he was supposed to give him a jam at the line … Hand aggression seemed to lessen as the game went along. Was not looking to get through or move his blocker laterally.” button_text=”Read More” button_target=”_parent” tooltip_css=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″][/TS_VCSC_Anything_Slider]
