When 6-year-old Panthers fan Braylon Beam appeared on “Ellen” last month, he saw a taped message from Ron Rivera, who offered the Denver, N.C. native a chance to be coach for a day later this summer. That proposal became official Tuesday when Beam signed a one-day contract to take over the team on August 7 during Fan Fest at Bank of America Stadium.
Beam, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February, started making headlines when he started dancing through the down days of chemotherapy.
Two weeks ago, he became an honorary member of the fast-growing Panthers fan club Roaring Riot, and in two months, he’ll be in charge of his favorite team.
