Panthers Make 4 Roster Moves

Signed: Safety Michael Griffin

A 2-time Pro Bowler, Griffin was released this spring after nine seasons with the Titans. He then landed with the Vikings but didn't make the roster.

Griffin, 31, is well past his prime, but he adds veteran experience to the Panthers' secondary. For now.

Re-Signed: Defensive Tackle Kyle Love

When first-round pick Vernon Butler suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday, a position of strength became a position of need. So the Panthers turned to an old friend for help.

Love, who was released during final cuts, first came to Carolina in late 2014. Last year, he totaled 21 tackles and 4.0 sacks in 18 games.

Butler had a cast on his right foot Monday as he walked through the locker room. High ankle sprains are one of the more nagging injuries for a player, so Butler's expected to miss multiple games.

Placed on Injured Reserve: Defensive End Ryan Delaire

So much for the youth movement the Panthers were hoping for at defensive end. Rakim Cox and Arthur Miley are no longer with the team and Delaire didn't make any noise in his second season.

Delaire, who was inactive against the Vikings, is done for the season with a knee injury. He finishes with two tackles in 38 snaps.

Waived: Safety Marcus Ball

Promoted from the practice squad on Friday, Ball was a one-game fill-in, playing 20 snaps on special teams. There's a good chance the Panthers will add him back to the practice squad if and when he clears waivers.
