Break down his performance against good OTs. If Johnson isn’t there to take the double teams or elite blockers Hardy doesn’t produce. Hardy is a product of our system, top ten without him and we will be better with Ealy’s continued development. Unless he takes a team freindly deal, he isn’t worth it.

    • Panthers/Truth

I believe your way off base. Hardy out produced CJ in each of his last 2 full seasons, and is a better run defender.

      Year – (CJ) – Total Tackles – Solo – Assist – Sacks / (Hardy) / Total Tackles – Solo – Assist – Sacks

      2014 – 41 – 29 – 12 – 8.5 // 4 – 3 – 1 – 1 (in only 1 game)
      2013 – 31 – 25 – 6 – 11 ///// 59 – 39 – 20 – 15
      2012 – 42 – 32 – 10 – 12.5 /61 – 41 – 20 – 11
      2011 – 42 – 32- 10 – 9 ////// 50 – 38 – 12 – 4
      2010 – 62 – 51 – 11 – 11.5 /30 – 24 – 6 – 3
      Total -218-169- 49 – 52.5/204-158- 58 – 33

      2014 – 12 – 8 – 4 – 4 (Ealy’s rookie season)

In Ealy’s rookie season (as a 2nd round pick), he had 18 less tackles, 16 less solo tackles, and 2 less assist, but 1 more sack than Hardy in his rookie season. It’s unreasonable to assume that Ealy can replace Hardy’s 2013 or 2012 production in 2015, all by himself.

      • Dylan Bauer

Like I said….Hardy is garbage against good blockers, CJ must get the better blocker or the double team in order for Hardy to have any kind of success. While I appreciate the numbers above, none of them represent Hardy’s success against elite takles. Look that up and tell me I am wrong and I will admit to being off base. But you will find out that Hardy is a product of the system he playes in. Now as far as Ealy is concerned. Look at playing time vs production and you will see his numbers are superior.

    • Donald Ussery

If that was the case then why didn’t our sack total stay the same or even skyrocket when he was suspended? Truth be told, the opposite happened. Our sacks decreased along with our passrush. U must’ve been watchin another team this past season. Ealy didn’t take his place well nor did alexander and horton. That put added pressure on the secondary and linebackers!! I think that we should give Hardy a 1-year prove it deal at the league minimum. Afterall, we let him play at the start of the season with his trial in the offing. The only reason he didn’t continue to play was because of the furor over the Ray Rice incident and Goddell’s poor and embarrassing handling of that incident. Nothing had changed regarding Hardy’s situation so why shouldn’t the Panthers offer him a prove-it deal?

    • Panthers/Truth

I agree, but a veterans minimum salary (around $855,000 I think) won’t work.

With the case being dismissed, I think the 2015 base salary for Hardy to re-sign with the Panthers would be around at least $5,000,000, with as much as $5,000,000 to $10,000,000 in performance based incentives, but including offsets for any time lost to suspension.

Hardy will almost certainly receive a higher base salary offer from other teams, but if it’s strictly a 1 year deal, to re-build his value, then the Panthers are by far his best option, because he wouldn’t have to adjust to a new system, and he knows that he has a good pass rusher on the other side.

Unfortunately cyteria, we’re a ” goody 2 shoes” team that frowns on mistakes that causes media scrutiny. Teams that win superbowls know that the media is fickle and will always report what’s beneficial to them. They could care less if hardy’s contrite or willing to sign for less to prove he’s moving past his mistakes. Our organization cares too much what naysayers think. They should ask the panther fanbase what we think because if we don’t support them no one gets paid. We should count more not the media.

Sign the man!!! Don’t see us having a upgrade on the roster now and 94 is going to take a few years before he’s in Kraken form. Sign him to a 4 year deal. Greg should give the panthers a home discount for letting him rest up and collect a pretty penny last season. But it will be a mistake to let him go. GM needs to work his magic and make this a good sign that doesn’t break the bank. Maybe have some high paid players take a restructure contract to make it happen.

All depends on the price. People saying he should play for stupid low money are just being funny or ignorant.

Frankly, I don’t think we have the cap space to bring him back.

Everyone deserves a second chance, don’t make the same mistake twice, cutting Steve Smith was one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history, Steve would have made an easier season for himself and KB with that duo deep and short post treat, so with that being said, yes bring back Hardy.

I think if they do decide to bring him back they will end up cutting Deangelo Williams to open up salary cap money.
