Panthers head coach Ron Rivera
RE: Greg Olsen‘s injury
“Greg is actually fine. He tweaked the knee a little bit. The doctors examined and feel very comfortable. We could have put him back in and I chose not to … He is probably going to be sore for a couple days and we will be careful with him as we go through the week. As of right now, everything I’ve been told is he is fine.”
RE: Jonathan Stewart‘s injury
“Jonathan is fine. He could have easily played, but we elected to not throw Jonathan back out there.”
RE: Cam Newton’s injury
“He hit it on his own helmet and got the funny bone thing, and that’s what that was. He is fine. Obviously, he went back in the very next play. Thank goodness for a guy like DA (Derek Anderson) to come in and make a play for us. But, he hit it on his own helmet.”
RE: What to do moving forward after Bene Benwikere‘s injury
“We have some guys on the practice squad that we like as well. I will sit down, and we will get an opportunity to visit with Dave (Gettleman) and his crew and the coaches, but we are going to have to do something.”
RE: Does Benwikere’s injury expedite Charles Tillman’s return?
“We’re going to have to really take a real nice, long look. These next couple days are going to be very critical for where Peanut (Charles Tillman) is and it might influence our decision.”
RE: On gathering the defense after a personal foul in the second half
“I didn’t want any of the ticky tacky stuff going on. I told them that we’re not going to get into it. We’ve got a couple guys lose their composure; we can’t have that. You get into big games; you get down the stretch, and something happens, you can’t react. And that’s what I basically told those guys, not to react to whatever is going on. Let’s be above it all.”
