Panthers QB Cam Newton
RE: His injury
“My hand just got numb, and I don’t know what happened. I haven’t had that feeling before, and heaven forbid if I had to take a snap underneath. That’s what it was.”
RE: Is he going to balance how he plays the remaining regular season games because of upcoming playoffs?
“Absolutely not. We play games to win football games. No matter what the plan is moving forward, we still have to be prepared to get geared up and get prepared for the next opponent.”
RE: What he was thinking when Greg Olsen was injured
“What you all were thinking. You don’t want to see a guy like that get out, not only for his skillset but for his leadership.”
RE: What the fan support this season has meant to him
“It’s been great just to see the response that you get coming out of the tunnel pregame, during the game, on third down on the defense, when you score. It just says a lot not only for the fans here, but the atmosphere in the Carolinas has just taken on a different animal. I don’t know whose grandmother that was, but she had a lot of swag out there. It was great to see.”
RE: Leading fan cheers at the end of the game
“I believe that right now it’s our moment as Panthers. We try to seize it as much as possible just to give the fans notoriety. We wouldn’t be in this situation without them. You saw a lot of guys on their team false starting or having delay of game or that sort. Just the communication on the opposing team again to prepare for playing at the Bank of America, it’s just great. It’s just appreciation more than anything. This fan support has taken on a life of its own from kids jetting down after a touchdown to the keep pounding right before the game, the chants. It’s just great to be a part of.”
