Ted Ginn Picked the Better Situation
A source close to Ginn told me two weeks ago that after he was released from Arizona, his hope was to finally play for the Browns. He’s now shunned his hometown team in back-to-back offseasons. That same source confirmed Monday morning that Ginn chose the Panthers, and not surprisingly a big reason is they offer a much better football opportunity than the wayward Browns.
The Panthers Aren’t Done Adding Receivers
Ginn’s (re)addition doesn’t mean the Panthers will head into training camp with a receiving corps of just him, Kelvin Benjamin, Jerricho Cotchery, Corey Brown and Brenton Bersin. Even though they haven’t planned to spend on the top wideouts in free agency, they do have interest in some guys in the second and third waves. Plus, the draft is stacked with options.
Dave Gettleman is 2-for-2
The Panthers targeted offensive tackle Michael Oher and Ginn early, hoping to land them by the time free agency opens Tuesday afternoon. Not only do they help in positions of need, but neither will count against Carolina’s potential compensatory picks next year. Last offseason didn’t go as planned for general manager Dave Gettleman, but so far he’s batting .1000.
