Proehl’s Pre-Draft Tour

T he Panthers remain one of the more secretive organizations in the NFL, so it’s been fun to follow Ricky Proehl’s Twitter feed the last few weeks. The team’s receivers’ coach has been posting pictures of his pre-draft scouting trips to campuses all over the country. Scroll through the slideshow to see where Proehl has stopped.

Reported Pre-Draft Visits and Workouts

A s fans have become more thirsty for draft info, the interest in which players visit with which teams has grown. It’s difficult to read too much into it all, especially because teams have been known to sniff around a player just to throw others off the scent of who they’re really interested in. Plus, Mike Tanier from Sports on Earth recently dug up this stat: Of 495 widely announced pre-draft visits in 2013, only 33 players were actually drafted by a team they visited.

But since many do like to connect dots, we’ve put together an unofficial list of players the Panthers have been connected with during this pre-draft process. It’s a mix of reported visits and private workouts the team’s coaches and/or staff have attended or were scheduled to attend, and again, many players the Panthers are interested in aren’t necessarily on this list.
