Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams was listed as probable, but he’s inactive for Sunday’s regular-season finale in Atlanta. It’s the tenth game missed game of the season for Williams, who hasn’t played since breaking a bone in his hand in Week 13.
Even if he had played, Williams was not expected to see many snaps. The Panthers have had concerns about how the injury would affect him in pass protection and when carrying and catching the ball. Plus, Jonathan Stewart has racked up 437 rushing yards over his last four games, the most in the league during that timeframe.
Linebacker A.J. Klein was the only other injury concern for the Panthers, who are remarkably healthy for Week 17. Klein will sit out his second straight game with an ankle injury. He’ll again be replaced by undrafted rookie Adarius Glanton.
And defensive end Frank Alexander is active for the first time since last year’s season finale in Atlanta. Alexander was suspended the first 14 games of the year after twice violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He will make his 2014 debut in a rotation with Wes Horton, Mario Addison, and Kony Ealy.
