The Panthers are well represented in the first ever College Football Playoff. Nine of the 53 players on Carolina’s roster went to one of the four schools involved.
- Oregon: running back Jonathan Stewart, tight ends Ed Dickson and Brandon Williams
- Florida State: receiver Kelvin Benjamin, kicker Graham Gano
- Ohio State: receiver Philly Brown, guard Andrew Norwell
- Alabama: safeties Roman Harper and Robert Lester
Here are some of their predictions for Thursday’s semifinals:
ROSE BOWL
Oregon vs. Florida State
Prediction:
52-28, Oregon
Comment:
“It’s going to be a high-scoring game for a little bit, and then we’re going to pull away because we’ll find a way to stop Jamies Winston. He’s a good quarterback, but we’ll stop him. I think it’s going to be a close first half, and then we’re going to run away in the third and fourth quarter.”
Prediction:
“I’m not good at scores. I try to be good at scoring, but not guessing the scores.”
“How about low scoring or high scoring?”
“High scoring … for us.”
Comment:
“We’ve won the last 29 games, so why not 30? When you’ve got team named the Ducks, how can you feel pretty powerful with that type of a name? Isn’t that what you call it when somebody has a bad throw or a bad punt? It’s a duck. That’s not a good name for a football team.”
SUGAR BOWL
Ohio State vs. Alabama
Prediction:
42-17, Ohio State
Comment:
“We’re the better team. The most overrated team in college team in football right now is ‘Bama. Bad defense, good offense. One good player on the whole team.”
Prediction:
“Alabama will win the game.”
Comment:
“We’re the better team.”
“But Philly said Ohio State was the better team.”
“He doesn’t really believe that.”
