The Panthers signed five players who tried out at their rookie minicamp. In a corresponding roster move on Monday, they released DT Darious Cummings, an undrafted free agent who failed to finish practices on Friday and Saturday.
FB Lee Ward

Former walk-on turned team captain at Stanford … Put up 35 reps in the 225 lb. bench press at his Pro Day which would have tied him for third overall at February’s combine … He totaled just one carry, four receptions and a touchdown in his four seasons.

TE Jamie Childers

Was in training camp with the Rams (2012) and Giants (2013) but both teams released him before the start of the regular season … Signed to the Bills practice squad last year … Played 15 games at quarterback for Coastal Carolina until he was moved to tight end his junior season … Was teammates with Panthers cornerback Josh Norman.
