The Panthers hoped to get some help from the Bears Monday night, but they barely put up a fight in a 31-15 loss to the Saints. The result put New Orleans a-half game ahead of Carolina in the NFC South with two games left in the season.

The easiest-to-understand scenario for the Panthers to take the division is: Panthers go 2-0; Saints go 1-1. But since the Saints finish up with the lowly Bucs, Panthers fans may want to root hard for the Falcons this week.

“We’ve got to win two more games and we need New Orleans to lose a game. It’s pretty simple. But none of it matters if we don’t win,” tight end Greg Olsen said Monday.

If Carolina beats Cleveland on Sunday, and Atlanta wins in New Orleans, that would set up a winner-take-all matchup between the Panthers and Falcons in Week 17.

NFC SOUTH W L T REMAINING
New Orleans 6 8 0 ATL (5-9), @TB (2-12)
Carolina 5 8 1 CLE (7-7), @ATL (5-9)
Atlanta 5 9 0 @NO (6-8), CAR (5-8-1)
Tampa Bay 2 12 0 Eliminated from playoff contention

BlackBlueReview You should do a therapy post: “How to root for the falcons without feeling bad about yourself.”

BlackBlueReview I don’t think they liked playing in the rain.

BlackBlueReview if I know my Panthers, the Falcons will beat the Saints next week, while Carolina loses to the Browns.

BlackBlueReview Looking grim for Carolina now. Guess I’m a Falcons fan this week.
