The Panthers:
- Have lost five in a row for the first time since Weeks 3-8 in 2012. Their six-game winless streak is their longest since they lost seven straight from Weeks 8-14 in 2010.
- Have had 19 turnovers in their nine games since going turnover free against the Bucs and Lions. The Panthers had six takeaways in their 2-0 start, but they have just 11 since.
- Went 152:48 without a takeaway before Thomas Davis forced a fumble late in the third quarter. It was the Panthers first takeaway since they recovered a fumble during the first quarter of their Week 9 loss to the Saints.
- Had the ball for 11:30 in the first quarter. Their time of possession in the final three quarters was 16:32.
- Had a drive that spanned 9:05 from the first quarter to the second, their second-longest drive of the season. They only managed a field goal in what was their only trip inside Atlanta’s red zone.
- Were shutout for the sixth time in the first quarter. They’ve scored just 27 points in the first quarter this season.
- Have scored 102 points in the fourth quarter and 110 points in the other three quarters combined this season.
- Rushed for more than 100 yards for the sixth straight game. The last time they didn’t rush for more than 100 yards was in their Week 5 win against the Bears.
- Gave up two sacks, their fewest since they allowed none in the Week 6 tie against the Bengals.
- Were called for just one penalty (Roman Harper, unnecessary roughness). It’s the third time in team history they were flagged just once. They weren’t penalized at all during a 31-10 loss to Green Bay on 12/14/97.
Panthers:
- Head coach Ron Rivera is 28-30-1 in his four seasons with the Panthers.
- QB Cam Newton, who threw no interceptions in his first three games this season, has thrown a pick in seven straight games. That ties him with Steve Buerlein (2000) and Jake Delhomme (2003-04) for the longest streak in franchise history.
- RB DeAngelo Williams averaged 4.1 yards on 10 carries, his second-best average since he picked up 5.1 yards a carry in Week 1.
- WR Kelvin Benjamin had a career-high nine receptions. He caught seven of his eight targets in the second half. Benjamin’s 52 receptions, 768 yards and eight touchdowns are all Panthers’ rookie records.
- WR Philly Brown scored his first receiving touchdown since he hauled in a 20-yarder for Ohio State against Michigan State in last year’s Big Ten Championship.
- TE Ed Dickson had a season-high 20 yards on two catches. He has six receptions and 56 yards this season.
- DE Charles Johnson picked up his ninth sack in his last seven meetings against Atlanta.
- DE Mario Addison had a sack to raise his career high to five. It was his first sack since he split one against the Bears in Week 5.
- LB Thomas Davis forced a fumble for the first time since last year’s Week 10 win at San Francisco. Davis also had 12 tackles, his most since he had a dozen against the Lions in Week 2.
- LB Luke Kuechly recovered a fumble for the first time since he had three his rookie season.
- K Graham Gano missed two field goals in a game for the first time since 11/20/11 when he was with the Redskins.
- P Brad Nortman downed three of his six punts inside the 20-yard-line. Falcons returner Devin Hester fair caught two punts and returned none.
FALCONS:
- QB Matt Ryan, who had a touchdown and no interceptions, has thrown for 16 scores and six picks in his last eight games against the Panthers.
- WR Roddy White scored a touchdown for the fifth straight game against the Panthers. In those five games, he’s caught 40 passes for 536 yards and six touchdowns.
