Ron Rivera Shoulders Some Blame

Sunday night, after the Panthers became just the second NFL team to allow two blocked punts to be returned for touchdowns in one half, coach Ron Rivera pinned the blame on his players.

Monday afternoon, he did it again, while also defending special teams coordinator Richard Rodgers.

Linebackers Jason Williams (released Tuesday) and Ben Jacobs certainly made mistakes on the respective plays, but many wondered why Rivera did not take more responsibility.

He finally did on Wednesday.

“Getting two punts blocked is a reflection on me, first and foremost,” Rivera said. “And that’s disappointing.

I’ve love a lot of respect for Rivera with him antics of avoiding accountability at all costs. I’ve defended him through his entire tenure here, but now I just want him gone. Richardson will replace him with more of the same, but let’s go ahead and get moving.

In what freaking world has Roman Harper played well? He’s frequently out of position and can’t tackle. I see minimal positive impact with him on the field. The season is over and this team sucks, give Jones, Boston and Lester the reps.

it’s a shame we’re going to have to endure this again next year, I mean do people honestly think JR will let ron go?

That’s a good question, Ron was just handed a new contract this offseason. Richardson is going to have to eat a lot of that money is Ron is axed.

Joat1977 , Thank goodness for Colin Jones’ 4.34-40 speed, he’s probably the only 1 listed in that secondary that can run faster than a 4.59-40 (Boston, Norman a 4.66-40, Benwikere a 4.63-40, with Harper and DeCoud probably now in the 4.6’s, because their Combine 40 time are almost 10 years old.

Here’s my idea for a nickname for the Panthers secondary, the “Burn Unit”.
