Tillman, Olsen Inch Closer to Facing Giants

THURSDAY’S INJURY REPORTS

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Did Not Practice

  • RB Jonathan Stewart (foot): Sunday’s carries will be divided by Mike Tolbert, Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne.
  • LB David Mayo (hamstring)
  • S Colin Jones (groin): With Mayo already expected to be out, if Jones can’t play, Panthers will be thin on special teams.

Limited

  • CB Charles Tillman (knee): Likely would have been full for the second straight day if conditions were dry. Coach Ron Rivera said he expects Tillman to face the Giants and it didn’t sound like Rivera was just being cautiously optimistic.
  • TE Greg Olsen (knee): Same as Tillman, probably could have been full if the turf wasn’t wet. Looks like Olsen will be able to extend his consecutive games played streak to 140.

Full

  • WR Brenton Bersin (groin): First practice since he tweaked his groin early last week.
  • WR Jerricho Cotchery (not injury related)
  • LB Thomas Davis (not injury related)
  • DT Dwan Edwards (not injury related)
  • WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (not injury related)
  • S Roman Harper (not injury related)
  • C Ryan Kalil (not injury related)
  • DE Jared Allen (not injury related)

NEW YORK GIANTS

Did Not Practice

  • WR Dwayne Harris (shoulder): This would be a break for the Panthers.
  • LB Devon Kennard (hamstring/foot)
  • DT Markus Kuhn (knee)
  • DE George Selvie (concussion)

Limited

  • OL Ereck Flowers (ankle)
  • LB J.T. Thomas

I agree that the starters need to play all games that they are healthy for. There is nothing wrong with resting them a little more than usual during the next three games, especially if we are dominating the contest like we were with Atlanta.

It gives the backups true practice and game time, and lessens the chance of injury.
