  4. Kenjon Barner (3)
  5. Fozzy Whittaker (6)
  6. Darrin Reaves (5)

Tolbert and Barner move down a spot after Stewart’s return … Barner is in real danger … Reaves was good against the Bills, but an injured knee could make the rookie an IR stash.

  1. Kelvin Benjamin
  2. Jerricho Cotchery
  3. Jason Avant

Brown followed up an impressive preseason opener with a good week at practice; the undrafted rookie was head coach Ron Rivera’s biggest camp surprise.

  1. Greg Olsen
  2. Ed Dickson
  3. Brandon Williams
  4. Richie Brockel
  5. D.C. Jefferson (6)
  6. Mike McNeill (5)

An injured knee against the Bills likely ended McNeill’s chances.

  3. Garry Williams
  4. Andrew McDonald
  5. David Foucault (7)
  6. Oscar Johnson (5)

No changes.

  1. Antoine Cason
  2. Melvin White
  3. Josh Norman

  6. Carrington Byndom

No changes, but Norman could pass White with a solid game Sunday.

Nickelbacks

  1. Charles Godfrey (2)
  2. Bené Benwikere(1)

They flip-flop again because it’s clear Godfrey has a rather long leash.

  1. Thomas DeCoud
  2. Robert Lester
  3. Roman Harper
  4. Colin Jones
  5. Anderson Russell
  6. Tom Nelson
  7. Tre Boston

No changes, but when he returns, Harper will jump over Lester.

Kickoff Return

  1. Kealoha Pilares
  2. Kenjon Barner
  3. Tiquan Underwood

No changes.

Punt Return

  1. Kenjon Barner
  2. Philly Brown
  3. Antoine Cason
  4. Bené Benwikere

Benewikere is an addition, but it’s unclear if/when he’ll get a shot to return during a game.

This is how this list should look in my opinion. Just don’t get how Pilares stock is so high he doesn’t stand out, hasn’t produced in 3 years outside of one return, hasn’t been involved in the PR competition for a while and even in the pre-season game only had one catch the rest of the time he has disappeared when he is on the field. I just can’t see them keeping someone just for Kick Return duties only when you got Lucas & Brown who can actually catch the ball and probably plug about anyone of the WR’s back there for KR.

Underwood reminds me a lot of Lafell 2.0 too inconsistent and bad hands. I think Brown & King both make up for the speed we need at the very least put them back there in KR. Plus Brown has produced in the passing game much more then Pilares, and also gives you KR & PR abilities.

I agree with Brown being ahead of Pilares. I wish Underwood would step up, it would be nice to have that long speed as a threat to open up everything else.

The two positions I’m keeping an eye on is CB and strangely LB.  Do you think Klein will supplant Blackburn before the opener?  Also, is White playing poorly, or Norman showing well?

    • http://blackandbluereview.com Bill Voth

To be honest, the Klein/Blackburn thing is one of the most overrated stories yet again. The third LB plays about 20-25% of the snaps in this defense. Nickel is MUCH MORE important. But FWIW, have a feeling Klein won’t give up spot now that Blackburn’s hurt. And White is … fine. Norman has more talent, so that’s why he has a chance to win back a starting job.
